LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION TRAINING COURSE

December 29&30  8am-6pm

This training is in a Blended Learning format, which means students must complete a portion of the class online. Once a student is registered they will be given a link to the Red Cross website to complete 8 hours of computer work. This is required to be completed before the first day of class.  

 

Course is designed to prepare lifeguard candidates to prevent, recognize, respond, and manage an aquatic emergency, breathing and cardiac emergency, and standard first aid injury and illness emergency.

 

Course includes: Lifeguard Training for traditional pools, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and Standard First Aid.

 

Lifeguard candidates must be 15 years of age, able to demonstrate 300-yards continuous swim, using the front crawl and breaststroke, with rhythmic breathing, tread water for 2-minutes without using arms, and able to retrieve a 10-lb weight from 7-feet of water and then swim 20-yards with legs only. Upon successful completion of the lifeguard course, candidates will receive an American Red Cross Lifeguard Training certification, a Standard First Aid certification and a CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification valid for 2 years.  Please be aware that you must be 16 years of age to be employed as a lifeguard. 

 

Program cost is $390.  Payment is due at the time of registration and is non-refundable unless class is cancelled.

$100 Testing fee will be deducted for payment if the student does not pass the Pre-Test.

 

 

 

LIFEGUARD INSTRUCTOR TRAINING COURSES  

 

All new 2019 Lifeguard Instructor course trains instructor candidates to teach American Red Cross Lifeguard Program, Shallow Water Lifeguard, Aquatic Attraction Lifeguard, Waterfront Skills, Waterpark Skills, First Aid, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers.

 

This course prepares instructor candidates to use course and presentation materials, methods, policies and procedures; while learning how to conduct efficient land and water skill sessions, conduct training sessions and evaluate the progress of candidates in a professional-level course and how to effectively evaluate and manage a lifeguard candidate's progress.

 

       Prerequisites

            • Be at least 17 years old

              • Possess a current Red Cross certification in Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR/AED
             • Complete the online Lifeguard Instructor course for $38 thru the ARC learning center (before the first day of class)
              • Pass two rescue skill scenarios that test lifeguarding and CPR (on the first day of class)

 

Cost is $390 ( includes all educational material) plus a $38 American Red Cross registration fee. $100 Testing fee will be deducted for payment if student does not

pass the Pre-Test.

WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR TRAINING COURSE (WSI)

December 26-28   8:30-5:30pm

 

This course trains Water Safety Instructor candidates to teach water safety courses and presentations based on the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program. Students will develop their understanding of how to use the course materials, how to conduct training sessions and how to evaluate participant’s progress. 

 

Prerequisites: Water Safety Instructor (WSI) candidates must be 16 years of age and able to demonstrate six proficient strokes: 25-yards front crawl, 25-yards back crawl, 25-yards elementary backstroke, 25-yards sidestroke, 25-yards breaststroke and 10-yards butterfly. Tread water for 2 minutes.

 

Cost is $390.   Payment is due at the time of registration and is non-refundable unless class is cancelled.  $100 Testing fee will be deducted for payment if student does not pass the Pre-Test.

 

WATERFRONT LIFEGUARD BRIDGE COURSE  

 

The purpose of the Waterfront Skills module is to teach lifeguards the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to emergencies in non-surf, open-water areas found at public parks, resorts, summer camps and campgrounds. Upon completion of this course, participants will receive an American Red Cross certificate indicating Waterfront Skills valid for 2 years. (The Waterfront Skills certificate is only valid when accompanied by a current American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR/AED). You must be at least 15 years old.  Must hold a current Red Cross Lifeguard certification. Must be able to swim 550 yards and retrieve 3 rings from the bottom of the pool.      

 

Cost is $150.  Payment is due at the time of registration and is non-refundable unless the class is cancelled. $50 Testing fee will be deducted for payment if the student does not pass the Pre-Test.

 

 

LIFEGUARD RE-CERTIFICATION TRAINING COURSE

January 4, 2020   8am-6pm


 

The course is designed to refresh the skills of currently certified American Red Cross Lifeguards including CPR/AED and First Aid. Student should have a firm grasp of all current rescues.

 

Lifeguard Re-certification students must hold a current Lifeguard Training certification. They must be able to demonstrate 300-yards continuous swim, using the front crawl and breaststroke, tread water for 2-minutes without using arms, and able to retrieve a 10-lb weight from 7-feet of water, then swim 20-yards, with legs only.

 

Upon successful completion of the Lifeguard Re-certification course, candidates will receive an American Red Cross Lifeguard Training certification, a Standard First Aid certification and a CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification valid for 2 years. NOTE: Lifeguard Re-certification candidates must have current basic certifications in the following: Lifeguard Training, Standard First Aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. Proof of current basic certifications is required on the first day of class.

 

The student manual is a digital copy. The student will be given a hard copy to use during class.
