These are blended courses, a portion of the coursework is done online prior to class on the above date. Additional information will provided by the instructor prior to the class starting.
LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION TRAINING
This training is in a Blended Learning format, which means students must complete a portion of the class online. Once a student is registered they will be given a link to the Red Cross website to complete 8 hours of computer work. This is required to be completed before the first day of class.
Course is designed to prepare lifeguard candidates to prevent, recognize, respond, and manage an aquatic emergency, breathing and cardiac emergency, and standard first aid injury and illness emergency.
Course includes: Lifeguard Training for traditional pools, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and Standard First Aid.
Lifeguard candidates must be 15 years of age, able to demonstrate 300-yards continuous swim, using the front crawl and breaststroke, with rhythmic breathing, tread water for 2-minutes without using arms, and able to retrieve a 10-lb weight from 7-feet of water and then swim 20-yards with legs only. Upon successful completion of the lifeguard course, candidates will receive an American Red Cross Lifeguard Training certification, a Standard First Aid certification and a CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification valid for 2 years. Please be aware that you must be 16 years of age to be employed as a lifeguard.
Program cost is $390. Payment is due at the time of registration and is non-refundable unless class is cancelled. $100 Testing fee will be deducted for payment if the student does not pass the Pre-Test.
LIFEGUARD REVIEW TRAINING
The course is designed to refresh the skills of currently certified American Red Cross Lifeguards including CPR/AED and First Aid. Student should have a firm grasp of all current rescues.
Lifeguard Re-certification students must hold a current Lifeguard Training certification. They must be able to demonstrate 300-yards continuous swim, using the front crawl and breaststroke, tread water for 2-minutes without using arms, and able to retrieve a 10-lb weight from 7-feet of water, then swim 20-yards, with legs only.
Upon successful completion of the Lifeguard Re-certification course, candidates will receive an American Red Cross Lifeguard Training certification, a Standard First Aid certification and a CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification valid for 2 years. NOTE: Lifeguard Re-certification candidates must have current basic certifications in the following: Lifeguard Training, Standard First Aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. Proof of current basic certifications is required on the first day of class.
The student manual is a digital copy. The student will be given a hard copy to use during class.

WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR TRAINING (WSI)
This course trains Water Safety Instructor candidates to teach water safety courses and presentations based on the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program. Students will develop their understanding of how to use the course materials, how to conduct training sessions and how to evaluate participant’s progress.
Prerequisites: Water Safety Instructor (WSI) candidates must be 16 years of age and able to demonstrate six proficient strokes: 25-yards front crawl, 25-yards back crawl, 25-yards elementary backstroke, 25-yards sidestroke, 25-yards breaststroke and 10-yards butterfly. Tread water for 2 minutes.
Cost is $390 which includes all educational material. Payment is due at the time of registration and is non-refundable unless class is cancelled. $138 Testing fee will be deducted for payment if student does not pass the Pre-Test.
LIFEGUARD INSTRUCTOR TRAINING
This course trains lifeguard instructor candidates to teach American Red Cross Lifeguarding, Lifeguarding Blended Learning, Shallow Water Lifeguarding, Aquatic Attraction Lifeguarding, Waterpark Skills, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Bloodborne Pathogens Training.
Minimum age: 17 years, Possess a current Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED, complete the Online Session for the Lifeguarding Instructor course and complete the pre-course session.
Note: To teach Waterfront Skills, Lifeguarding instructors must possess a basic-level Waterfront Skills certificate.
LIFEGUARD INSTRUCTOR REVIEW
This in-person Lifeguard Instructor/Trainer review course is the required course for all Lifeguarding Instructor Trainers to re-certify. During this course, lifeguarding instructors and instructor trainers will participate in an in-water practice and polish skills session in addition to a classroom-based review of Red Cross administrative policies and procedures. Lifeguarding Instructors/Trainers may also choose to attend a brief "test out" session following this course to gain a basic-level Lifeguarding certification. (Additional Fee for the “test out” option.)
Possess a current certification as a Lifeguard Instructor or Trainer.
Must be in good standing with the American Red Cross.
